Léman in clouds. Bright blues in the Valley. 7.06.2026. 14.5x36.5 cm

This original plein-air oil painting was created on 7 June 2026 on the shores of Lake Geneva (Lac Léman), Switzerland. The panoramic composition captures the meeting of luminous blue water, distant Alpine mountains and a sky filled with soft, shifting clouds.

The landscape unfolds horizontally, revealing successive layers of mountains in shades of blue, violet and muted green. Light filters through the clouds, illuminating the distant valley and creating subtle contrasts between the cool tones of the water and the changing colours of the mountains. Expressive impasto brushstrokes preserve the immediacy of the painting process and the changing atmosphere of the landscape.

Rather than focusing on a single landmark, the painting explores the relationship between light, water, sky and mountain silhouettes. The panoramic format emphasises the vastness of the landscape and the quiet movement of clouds above Lake Geneva.

Painted directly outdoors, this work captures a fleeting moment in the natural environment of the Swiss Riviera. The changing light transforms the mountains and water into a continuous interplay of colour, reflection and atmosphere.

This painting belongs to Olga Tacan’s ongoing CERULEANISTIQUE project, dedicated to observing and documenting Lake Geneva and the surrounding Swiss landscapes through plein-air oil painting.
