*CGN. Lutry. 30.08.2026. Original Oil Painting of a CGN Boat on Lake Geneva, Switzerland – Plein Air Landscape Art

This original plein-air oil painting was created in Lutry, Switzerland, on 30 August 2026, on the shores of Lac Léman (Lake Geneva). Painted directly outdoors, the work depicts a CGN paddle steamer resting near the harbour, surrounded by the calm blue waters of the lake.

The vessel stands at the centre of the composition, its dark smokestack and warm red details contrasting with the delicate turquoise, pale blue and white tones of the surrounding landscape. Soft reflections stretch across the water, while the distant shoreline and open sky create a sense of space and tranquillity.

Lutry is a picturesque lakeside town in the Canton of Vaud, at the entrance to the Lavaux wine-growing region. The historic CGN fleet is an iconic part of life on Lake Geneva, connecting lakeside towns and forming a familiar element of the region’s cultural landscape.

The painting explores the relationship between the solid form of the boat and its shimmering reflection. Loose, expressive brushstrokes capture the changing light on the water, while the panoramic composition emphasises the horizontal rhythm of the lake and the quiet atmosphere of the harbour.

Created during a single plein-air painting session, this original artwork preserves a direct encounter with the landscape of Lake Geneva. It belongs to Olga Tacan’s ongoing CERULEANISTIQUE project, dedicated to painting the shores of Léman, the village of Lutry and the surrounding landscapes of Lavaux.
