Two Boats, Lutry. 16.03.2026
This original plein-air oil painting was created in the harbour of Lutry on the shores of Lac Léman (Lake Geneva), Switzerland. Painted directly on location in early spring, the work captures two quiet boats resting on calm water beneath the changing light of the lake.
Lutry is one of the most charming historic villages of the canton of Vaud, known for its lakeside atmosphere, small harbour and the nearby Lavaux vineyards. On this particular day, the stillness of the boats contrasted with the subtle movement of reflections across Lac Léman, creating a scene of balance, silence and light.
Working outdoors allows me to respond directly to the colours and atmosphere of a specific moment. The changing reflections of Lake Geneva, the soft tones of the sky and the rhythm of the harbour can only be observed for a short time before the scene transforms.
This painting is part of my ongoing series dedicated to Lac Léman and the landscapes of Western Switzerland. Each work is painted from direct observation and preserves the unique character of a real place and moment along the lake.
